Is Something Bothering You?

Is something bothering you. The neighbor’s dog? Your boss? Does your husband leave his smelly socks beside the bed? You get the idea. There are millions of little and not so little things that we have to deal with everyday. There are two questions you should ask yourself.
So what do I want? And what am I going to do about it?
The Law of Attraction tells us that whatever we put our energy, attention and focus on, we get more of. So its important to focus on the solution instead of the problem. SO WHAT DO I WANT?
The next step is WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? Lets take your husband’s smelly socks for an example. Again, if you focus on the problem ” Why are you always leaving your socks on the floor?”, Law of Attraction says that you will get more of what you don’t want. Instead, focus on what you want (It’s nice when you pick up your socks.”).
Two questions to ask yourself What do I Want? and What am I Going to Do About it?

How Is Making Money Related To Personal Development Work?
Time freedom is crucial. Until we can remove financial stress we will never have any time or energy to give to the really important aspects of life such as love, service, devotion, creativity.
There is an urgent need in our culture to learn to generate money in a whole different way. Here are some statistics from the Social Security Administration.
Out of 100 people who have worked for 40 years here’s what you find at retirement:
- 54 will be broke and financially dependent on others
- 36 will be dead
- 5 will continue working because they have to
- 4 will be financially secure
- 1 will be wealthy
That’s 5% who will be successful and 95% who will be unsuccessful!
WHAT MAKES THIS 5% DIFFERENT?
Wealthy and successful people all use and understand the principals of attraction and personal accountability.
“The ownership of money and property comes as a result of doing things in a certain way. Those who do things in this certain way, whether on purpose or accidentally, get rich. Those who do not do things in this certain way, no matter how hard they work or how able they are, remain poor. It is a natural law that like causes always produce like effects. Therefore, any man or woman who learns to do things in this certain way will infallibly get rich.” Wallace D. Wattles
Change happens from the inside out.

Positive Thinking - Will Smith talks about bending the universe

Here is Will Smith talking about positive thinking and creating our reality:
“… our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, our ideas. are physical in the universe. That if we dream something, if we picture something, if we commit ourselves to it, that that is a physical thrust towards realization that we can put into the universe. That the universe is not a thing that is going to push us around, that the world and people and situations are not something that are going to push us around. That we are going to bend the universe and command and demand that the universe become what we want it to be…”
I notice that there are 3 steps:
1) We dream of something. It may be that new car, that new house, that special relationship.
2) We picture it. We visualize and focus on it. We raise our vibration.
and 3) We commit ourselves to it. We know in our hearts that this will be. There is absolutely no doubt.

Robert Kiyosaki and the Cash Flow Quadrant
Posted on April 1, 2008

Robert Kiyosaki has written many motivational books starting with Rich Dad Poor Dad. Rich Dad Poor Dad is the story of Robert’s two fathers. His “poor dad” was his biological father,”he struggled financially all his life”. And his “rich dad,” his best friend’s father who became “one of the richest man in Hawaii”. By contrasting his two Dads, Kiyosaki helps people rethink their idea of money and wealth building.
Although there is some controversy over whether Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad” was real or whether he made it up, there are still some very valid concepts in his books. One of the most important is the Cashflow Quadrant which is also the name of the book written by Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. The Cashflow Quadrant shows the four ways to earn money. Employees, Self Employed/Small Business owners, Business owners (not directly involved in the day-to-day operation of the company), and Investors. Robert Kiyosaki’s philosophy for financial independence is that not all Quadrants are equal.
“That is why I did not want a job. If we were going to be responsible citizens, Kim and I wanted to have our money work for us rather than spend our lives physically working for money.”
Robert Kiyosaki in Cashflow Quadrant .
“You only have so many hours in a day and you can only work so hard. So why work hard for money? Learn to have money and people work hard for you, and you can be free to do the things that are important.”

“Of all the things that can have an effect on your future, I believe personal growth is the greatest. We can talk about sales growth, profit growth, asset growth, but all of this probably will not happen without personal growth.” Jim Rohn
Jim Rohn is a popular American motivational speaker and best selling author of self help and motivational books, CD’s and other resources. I had the privilege to listen to Jim Rohn live; he is an exceptional speaker and very, very humorous. I actually won a draw for 6 or 7 sets of tapes, including two of his tape sets (this was more than a few years ago before CD’s were popular). When I came up to the front I had no idea I was shaking hands with a legend.
Two of the sets I won were The Art of Exceptional Living and Take Charge of Your Life and I highly recommend both.

Getting the success you want

I was reading a fantastic interview by Chris McCombs on Kickbacklife.com . He was interviewing Bob Doyle of Wealth Beyond Reason and The Secret.
There is a lot of great material in this interview but what really impacted me was this quote talking about resistance.
“If a person has a vision for themselves and they know all this stuff intellectually, and they are doing all the stuff they are “supposed to do,” like they are making lists of things, they’re getting clear on their goals, they’re meditating or doing
visualization and they’re still not getting the results they want, it’s because they have resistance on some level.” Bob Doyle
This may be tough to do, but if you are not having the
Here’s another excellent interview, this time Chris Attwood of healthywealthynwise.com interviews Dr Joe Vitale.
What happens is we have a lot of beliefs about deservingness. We have beliefs about following our passions. We have beliefs about what we can earn and how we can make money doing a particular thing. Those beliefs are what put us in a box and put a lid on our experience. My own understanding is that once I take care of the beliefs that are in the way of me making money by following my passion, then I make money following my passion …..
How do you find the beliefs within yourself that need to be changed so you can live a life of passion and make a great deal of money, if that’s what you want from following your passion? I say they’re not so hard to find. “I say that you sit and you ask yourself some reflective questions like, “What might be some beliefs that would keep me from making money from my passion?” At first there may be nothing that shows up, but if you sit with it in a meditative type way, a belief will come up. It will probably be some of the general cultural ones like money is evil. Money, of course, is not evil.” Joe Vitale
Another way to deal with resistance is EFT(Emotional Freedom Technique). Back to the Chris McCombs’ interview with Bob Doyle:
“And so, those belief systems, and those negative feelings act as resistance, and they literally repel whatever it is that you were trying to attract in terms of your
goal achievement . So, to get rid of that, you basically have to work directly on those energy systems that are the resistance. There are several ways to do that. The processes that you use to do that are basically referred to as releasing techniques. And there are several. The one that we use, in the “Wealth Beyond Reason” program is – and I recommend and do a lot of work with – is EFT, which is Emotional Freedom Technique.” Bob Doyle
EFT is based on a theory that negative emotions are caused by disturbances in the body’s energy field. Tapping on the meridians while thinking of a negative emotion alters the body’s energy field, restoring it to balance. EFT is based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat emotional and physical ailments but without the needles. More on EFT later.

True North is the internal compass that guides you successfully through life. It represents who you are as a human being at your deepest level. It is your orienting point - your fixed point in a spinning world -that helps you stay on track as a leader. Your True North is based on what is most important to you, your most cherished values, your passions and motivations, the sources of satisfaction in your life.

Goals, goals goals

You can’t start the journey without knowing where you’re going.
You, my friend, need a plan.
Dennis Hopper
Where are you going? Do you have a plan? Do you have goals? Are they written down? When was the last time you looked at your goals?
S.M.A.R.T. Goals
Everyone has heard of SMART goals. SMART stands for:
Specific
Goals must be clear and unambiguous. A goal should have a specific outcome or event. For example, I want to lose weight is not as good as I will lose five pounds by….
Measurable
When goals are specific you can measure your progress - if your goals are not measurable, you never know whether you are making progress toward its completion.
Achievable
Can the objective be achieved with a reasonable amount of effort and application?
Let me give you an example. Lets say you are playing basketball with your 6 year old brother. Not exactly a competitive game. Now, imagine playing a game with Michael Jordan. Again, not exactly a competitive game. Now imagine a game with your best friend, Bob. You are evenly matched, every time you play its a close game. Thats the way you need to set your goals.
Relevant
Your goal must be in harmony with your core values and your life purpose. Judith Wright talks about this in her book The One Decision.
“The One Decision is a personal commitment about how you are going to live your life. It is not a small step or a good decision. It is the One Decision you can make that will completely change your life…. It is a decision so powerful that it becomes a touchstone you orient to when making every other decision.”
When your are clear on your vision, on your ONE decision, and your goals are in alignment with that, they become easier to attain.
Timebound
Putting an end point on your goal gives you a clear target to work towards. Your goal must have deadlines and sub deadlines - for example - you have a goal to purchase a house by a certain date, but you will also have deadlines for saving a down payment, researching the market, finding an agent, etc.
***
It is not only important to have SMART written goals but you also need a plan on how to achieve them. This is where reverse engineering comes into play. This is where you divide the goal-setting process into smaller achievable steps. First you define your desired outcome. Then you apply a time frame for making it happen. Next you work backwards by systematically identifying all the things that need to happen, and all the things you need to do, along a time line. Eventually you get to what I need to do today to achieve my goal(s). Then its a case of working the plan, and if your goals have clarity (they are measurable and specific) you can measure your progress and revise your goals as you go along.
SMART goals are left brained. In general, the left side of the brain processes information in a linear, sequential, logical manner. It processes from part to whole. The left side of the brain deals with things the way they are-with reality.
The right side of the brain uses intuition, emotion and non-verbal processing. It processes from the whole to the smaller parts. The right side allows us to see creative, alternative solutions. The right side is “big picture” oriented.
In order to maximize achieving your goals, you should use both sides of your brain. SAFE goals are right brain oriented. More about SAFE goals in a future post.
